Carl Zeiss Jena, ansonsten nur auf Herstellung von Objektiven spezialisiert, erhielt 1951 den Auftrag die demontierten "Bruhns Werke, Hamburg" in Eisfeld wieder aufzubauen und in Betrieb zu nehmen.
1955 wurde dort der Bau von Werra Kameras begonnen und bis 1965 fortgeführt.

The lens production company of Carl Zeiss  in Jena got orders in 1951 to rebuild  the dismantled "Bruhns Werke, Hamburg" in Eisfeld, East Germany and start production of parts there.
The Werra Cameras were made there from 1955 to 1965.
