eBay
camera descriptions on eBay are a great source ...

Voigtländer
the correct spelling of the classic brand name causes a lot of confusion and problems for sellers....

recent tries:

German Voigslanver Camera
Yoighander Camara
VOIGHANDER  VITO
Yoigtländer Vitomatic II b Color
(if you're the happy owner of a B&W version I'd love to hear from you!)

(surely to be continued)

Descriptions I
You can learn a lot about cameras, which you nev
er suspected...

This very rare and unusual GERMAN CAMERA  was manufactured in a factory in DRESDEN, GERMANY.  The name of
the manufacturer is Kamera-Workstatten.  Underneath the plate is marked DRP which means DEITCH REPUBLIC
DRESDEN-A1.

This camera was made around 1961-62 in VEB Pentacon in this factory that was in past Welta Werke.
It looks to me like soap in parrot feather. When you press the shutter release from left side spring out
the pushing rod like devil from box. You need push it inside - this is film winding. Ok, originality do not miss by this camera. ...

This one is without ligtmeter (you ask me how I can say it and how it differs from camera with not working lightmeter?
Easily. When the camera is opened and the place for lightmeter is empty)
.

This is an ugly Konica T4 body perfect for those beer parties or canoe trips. Leave the high tech and
high$$$ at home. Everything works except the meter and the sync terminal. Hot shoe, self timer, and shutter all
work fine. Flash sync is up to 1/125th sec. Sold as is.
Sorry to see it go, this camera makes you feel invincible because for the price of a bucket of chicken and
several six packs you can have a working 35mm camera not worry about having it destroyed. Pick up a cheap lens
on ebay for less than a carton of cigs and let's go partying

High Expectations...  more interesting phrases

MODEST RESERVE:

... another phrase for "if you're not willing to sell your house for this one, better not bid"

A Voigtländer Perkeo II didn't meet the "modest reserve" at $436  on May13, 2001.  McKeown at this time valued it at $175-250,
while in Germany this camera is easily available for  well under $175)

 Any suggestions for "High RESERVE?"

COLLECTOR'S VALUE
"Mamiya has discontinued making cameras so these cameras have a lot of collectors value in them"
(
found by D Edwards <thomed@powerweb.net>, Thanks!)

HISTORICAL VALUE

The seller wants R$ 3000 (U$ 850) for a Minox III (buy it now!) because of it's alleged "historic value". He says the camera was owned and used by a famous brazilian architect and artist in a 1948 journey to the Amazon basin (and he has witnesses for this information).(found by "Wolfgang Fischer" <wfischer@icb.usp.br>

(The Minox III got on the market a few years later than that... ;) We might want to look at our own cameras differently from now on - I took my Nikon on a Rhine River valley trip last year, do   I qualify  ???

 HISTORY RE-WRITTEN

"Box camera made by Balda around 1392."
(from an EBay description, found by Jeremy Templer <jtempler@looksmart.net>)
