Die Contaflex erschien 1935 als "Spiegelreflex-Contax",
d.h. Vorteile der Contax wurde auf das beliebte Reflexkamerasystem übertragen.
Sie war außerdem die erste Kamera mit eingebautem photoelektrischen Belichtungsmesser! Das Sucherobjektiv bot eine größere Brennweite als das Aufnahmeobjektiv - so erreichte man ein größeres Sucherbild bei kleinerer Tiefenschärfe- und erleichterte damit die Scharfeinstellung. The Contaflex appeared in 1935
as a combination of the Contax with the popular Flexsystem - beside interchangeable
lenses and a focal-plane-shutter it also offered the first build-in Photo-Electric
Exposure Meter!
The finder lens was a special f 2.8 objective, so that the image seen was twice the area of the negative. Focusing was easier, for the depth of field of the viewing lens was smaller than the one of the taking lens. Parrallel errors between the two lenses were corrected by a mask geared to the focusing mechanism. * 1935-1939 uncoupled Exposure Meter focal-plane shutter 1/2 - 1/1000 sec.
